Patrick A. Coronel is a director at Saiz Chanez Sherrell + Kaemper. Patrick has successfully handled product liability, medical malpractice, and general liability cases from pre-litigation investigation through jury verdict.

Patrick’s product and general liability experience includes representing clients in premises liability, tractor-trailer accidents, breach of contract, and commercial dispute matters. A significant part of Patrick’s experience involves representing clients in complex wrongful death cases.

He has extensive experience representing healthcare providers, including hospitals, long-term care and assisted living facilities, and individual practitioners.

Patrick attended the University of New Mexico School of Law. He attained his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 2017. During law school, Patrick was a Professional Articles Editor for The New Mexico Law Review. He was also a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association moot court team. Patrick served as the Founding President of the New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association Student Chapter and as the Senior Legal Writing Tutor for the law school’s Legal Analysis and Communication Program.

Upon graduation from law school, Patrick received the Margaret Keiper Dailey Award for demonstrating an awareness of social problems, concern for people in trouble, and professional dedication to equal justice for all.

Patrick is actively involved in the New Mexico legal community. He has served two terms on the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association’s Board of Directors. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of New Mexico School of Law, where he coached the law school’s Hispanic National Bar Association moot court team for several years.

Patrick has been recognized by several organizations and entities throughout his legal career. He earned the designation of Rising Star in the 2021-2024 editions of Southwest Super Lawyers for his experience and expertise in product liability defense. Patrick was also recognized in the 2022 edition of Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch for his experience and expertise in health care and medical malpractice defense. In 2022, Patrick was recognized as the Young Lawyer of the Year by the New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association. Most recently, Patrick was recognized in the 2024 and 2025 editions of Best Lawyers in America for his expertise in personal injury litigation – defendants.

In May of 2024, Patrick obtained a unanimous defense verdict on behalf of a roofing company. The plaintiff alleged that the defendant was negligent and caused significant injuries, including a transmetarsal amputation and permanent disfigurement. Following a week-long trial, the jury rejected the plaintiff’s claims and found in favor of Patrick’s client.

Before joining SC Law, Patrick spent several years as an associate attorney at a large law firm in Albuquerque.
